Prakhon Chai District

Amphoe Prakhon Chai ( Thai: อำเภอ ประโคน ชัย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southern part of the province of Buriram. The Buriram province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Ban the Kruat, Lahan Sai, Chaloem Phra Kiat, Nang Rong Mueang Buriram, Buriram Phlapphla Chai in the province as well as Amphoe Prasat in Surin province.

History

In 1939 the county of Talung ( ตะลุง ) renamed Prakhon Chai.

Attractions

  • Prasat Hin Mueang Tam ( ปราสาท เมือง ต่ำ ) - located near the Prasat Hin Phanom Rung, dates from the 11th century and has carved Khmer-style lintels and a laterite wall.

Management

The county Prakhon Chai is divided into 16 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 199 villages ( Muban ).

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Prakhon Chai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ประโคน ช ) consists of parts of the tambon Prakhon Chai,
  • Khok Ma ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โคก ม ) consists of the whole Tambon Khok Ma,
  • Salaeng Thon ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แสลง โทน ) consists of the whole tambon Salaeng Thon.

There are also 14 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
