Prodi I Cabinet

The Cabinet Prodi ruled Italy on 17 May 1996 to 20 October 1998. Previously ruled the Cabinet Dini, then the Cabinet D' Alema I. The government of Prime Minister Romano Prodi was some of the center- left coalition The Olive and smaller parties supported.

After the collapse of the old party system and the parliamentary election won against Berlusconi in the spring of 1996 onwards, Romano Prodi continued the reforms in various previous governments and gave more of their own impetus for reform. An important goal was the accession of Italy to the European Economic and Monetary Union. Both leaving the radical left Refoundation, criticized the neoliberal tendencies in 1998 led to the resignation of the Prodi government.
