Repel
Repel is a commune with 70 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) in the department of Vosges of Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and was founded in 1998 Kommunalverband Xaintois.
Geography
The community Repel is in the countryside Xaintois on the border with the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle, about 40 kilometers north- west of Epinal and 37 kilometers south of Nancy.
The relief of 3.46 km ² of the municipal area is little organized. In the northeast, the highest point is 373 meters above sea level on a plateau is reached ( skin de France). A little north of the ridge Colline de Sion is the distinctive tower signal de Vaudémont (541 m). In the extreme southeast of the town of the Rhine-Meuse watershed runs.
The municipal area is drained by the Ruisseau de Bicène to Vraine in the Meuse catchment. Characteristic of the area are vast fields of grain. Smaller forest areas are found in the East ( Bois de la Qouquiotte, Les eTOCs ).
Neighboring communities of Repel Aboncourt are in the north, head - skin in the northeast, Oëlleville in the southeast, southwest, and Totainville in Saint- Prancher in the West.
History
In 1147, the city emerged as alodium respe (see allodium ) the first time in a document.
During the ancien régime Repel was part of the Bailliage Mirecourt. On the eve of the French Revolution, several lordships divided from the surrounding land ownership in Repel.
Repel has no church of their own. The inhabitants were the parish in the neighboring towns of Saint- Prancher and Aboncourt. Thus, the parish priest of Saint- Prancher and Aboncourt each received one-sixth of the tithes, one-third went to the chapter Remiremont and one third to the monastery of St. Gangolf ( Collegiate Church Saint- Gengoult ) in Toul. The parish of Saint- Prancher belonged to the deanery in the Diocese of Toul Poussay.
At a now defunct chapel Saint -Gérard today still remembers the street name Rue de la Chapelle. The Mairie and the school building was built in 1836.

Agriculture continues to play an important role in Repel.
The community is located off the national traffic flows. Six kilometers south of the village held partially -developed two-lane secondary road 166 that leads from Epinal Mirecourt after about Neufchâteau.
