Valleroy-aux-Saules

Valleroy -aux -Saules is a commune of 287 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau and Canton Mirecourt.

Geography

The small community Valleroy -aux -Saules located in the triangle between Epinal, Vittel and Mirecourt.

The Moselle tributary Madon partially forms the eastern boundary of the municipality. In the Madon flows at the level of Valleroy Ruissaeu de la Grace and expands the trough-shaped Madontal. West of the town the land rises about 70 meters on a ridge, the wedge-shaped slides from the southwest to the Madon at Hymont and is forested in many areas. In the west and south, the municipality has approximately 150 acres of shares in two forest areas. The largest part of the community area consists of agricultural land, which reach to the shores of Madon. The built-up area is closed and is based on two settlement axes that intersect.

Neighboring communities of Valleroy -aux -Saules are Hymont in the north, Velotte -et- Tatignécourt in the northeast, Maroncourt in the east, in the southeast Hagécourt Rancourt in the southwest, Madecourt in the west and Bazoilles -et- Menil in the northwest.

History

Valleroy -aux -Saules lay on the Roman road that led from Langres via Metz to Strasbourg. The additional name of the place ( saules = willow ) is used to distinguish one only twelve kilometers southwest located same location ( Valleroy -le- Sec).

Demographics

In Valleroy -aux -Saules building areas have been opened up for private homes from the 1980s, which attracted mainly young families from the surrounding area by Valleroy. For several years, the numbers are declining.

A part of the population lives off the land, another part commutes in the operations of the environment, including the trade areas around Mirecourt.

By Valleroy -aux -Saules leads the Department of Road 4 of Mirecourt after Bains- les- Bains. In the neighboring village of Hymont there are connections to the railway line from Nancy to Vittel, which is operated by the TER Lorraine.
