Seillons-Source-d'Argens

Seillons source d'Argens is a commune with 2219 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

Surrounded by vineyards, Seillons source d'Argens rises on a 388 m high hill above the originally designated by far Moorland level. From the village, you have clear view of the Massif de la Sainte -Baume, the Montagne Sainte- Victoire and the Alps. A few kilometers from the village is the source of the Argens.

History

In the village of La Rouvière traces of agricultural use from the Iron Age have been found. The settlement is occupied until the early Christian period.

In 1013 the city was first mentioned under the name Sillonem. He was under the rule of the Counts of Marseille, later those of Agoult.

After Seillons was destroyed during the Wars of Religion, it built Elzéar d' Agoult and the Grimaldi family who had possessions there until the Revolution, again.
