She's Leaving Home

June 1, 1967

She's Leaving Home (English: She leaves her home ') is a song by The Beatles, which was released as the sixth track on the LP Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, the former had the original idea. As copyright holders are given, as usual, Lennon / McCartney.

Recordings

The recordings took place at Abbey Road Studios on 17 and 20 March 1967. The instrumental accompaniment deny four violins, two violas, two cellos, a double bass and a harp. The Arrangement wrote the music producer Mike Leander, George Martin was busy elsewhere. None of the band members playing an instrument. On the first day six slightly different versions were recorded in the studio and finally the first selected. Three days later, the vocals were added. In addition to McCartney's lead vocal Lennon sings a dissenting vote, the typical sayings of his aunt Mimi ("We gave her everything money Could buy" ) quotes.

The song goes back to a message to the Daily Mail. She reported on 17 February 1967 by the 17 -year-old Melanie Coe, who had run away and gone from home. The song was often regarded as an expression of generational conflicts at that time, as many young people broke from the affluent society to try out alternative ways of life.
