Signy-Avenex

Signy- Avenex is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Signy- Avenex situated at 470 meters above sea level. M., 3 km west-north- west of the district town of Nyon (air line). The village is located on the inclined slightly to the southeast plain at the foot of the Jura, between the lake and the chain of La Dole.

The area of ​​1.9 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the plain at the foot of the Jura between the rivers of the Boiron de Nyon in the southwest and the aces in the Northeast. The highest elevation of Signy- Avenex reaches 489 m above sea level. M. Grens below. Population

With 442 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Signy- Avenex one of the small communities of the Canton of Vaud. Of the 78.7 % inhabitants are French-speaking, 11.8 % in English and 5.9 % German-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Signy- Avenex amounted in 1900 to 94 inhabitants. After 1960 (136 inhabitants ) continued a rapid increase in population by tripling the number of inhabitants within 40 years.

Economy

Signy- Avenex was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Traffic

History
