South Athens (regional unit)

The Regional District of Athens -South (Greek Periferiaki Enotita Notiou Tomea Athinon Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Νότιου Τομέα Αθηνών ) is one of eight regional districts of the Greek region of Attica. It was formed on the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 from numerous southern suburban communities in the prefecture of Athens County Athens. Proportional to its 529 826 inhabitants, the area sends 14 MPs in the Attic Regional Council, but has no more political significance than local authority. It is divided today into the communities Agios Dimitrios, Alimos, Elliniko - Argyroupoli, Glyfada, Kallithea, Muscat - Tavros, Nea Smyrni and Paleo Faliro.
