Strachujov

Strachujov ( German Strachojow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers north of Bystřice nad Perštejnem and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Strachujov is located on the right bank of Svratka at the mouth of the creek Loučka. The village is situated at the southeastern foot of the mountains Saarer. North-east rises the Pavlův Kopec (714 m ) in the east of Šípův vrch (700 m ) south of Na Vrškách ( 638 m) and Panský Kopec ( 672 m) and west of the Loučný Kopec ( 676 m).

History

According to legend, the place should have been created by a missionary Strachota in honor of the Apostles Cyril and Methodius.

In the colonization of areas along the upper Swarczawa disputes arose between the abbot of the monastery Litomyšl Stephan, who had colonized the Czech share, and Imran Kamen and Pernštejna.
