Rhinestone is a municipality with 819 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Schwaz.

Geography

Strass is located at the foot of the nearly vertical drop of 628 m high rocky flight of the board case of the northern pillar of the Larchkopfs ( 1367 m), at the entrance of the Zillertal. The village was built on the embankments of the Inn and Ziller. The majority of the municipal area, including the district of Redwood, located in the Inn Valley, the rest is part of the Zillertal.

Recently, several companies were settled. The wastewater treatment system can treat the entire sewage from 31 municipalities in the regions of the Zillertal, Achen Valley and Mid Unterinntal.

History

On the Brettfallschrofen remains of a fortified, prehistoric settlement were found. It is thought that the area had been settled rhinestone already in Roman times. It is first mentioned Straze 1112 and 1427, it appears as a local congregation of the Court of Rottenburg.
