Tim N. Machin

Timothy N. " Tim " Machin ( born August 1822 in New York; † December 20, 1905 in Oakland, California ) was an American politician. Between 1863 and 1867 he was Deputy Governor of the State of California.

Career

After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer Tim Machin began in the early 1850s to work in mono Ville ( California ) in this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In the years 1862 and 1863 he sat in the California State Assembly, which he was president in 1863. As a loyal supporter of the Union, he sat down during the Civil War vehemently for their cause one.

1863 Machin was elected to the side of Frederick low for Lieutenant Governor of California. This post he held 1863-1867. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He also led the San Quentin State Prison. After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he worked in the real estate industry. Until his death he maintained an office in San Francisco. He died on December 20, 1905 in Oakland.
