Turtle Island (Newcastle Bay)

The densely forested island is by a short and only a few meters wide water passage from its north-western neighbor island Brewis Iceland (10 ° 53 ' S, 142 ° 42' O 10.887491666667142.69434444444 ), with a length of about 260 meters and a width of up to 50 meters ( 1.3 ha ), separated; Both islands are located in a common coral reef (Turtle Reef Iceland ).

On satellite images or aerial photographs of the narrow strip of water between the islands is barely visible, which is why both islands are often under the joint name Turtle Iceland, with the alternative name Brewis Iceland or Iceland Brewers led.

Administratively counts Turtle Iceland (along with Brewis Iceland) at the Inner Islands, an island region in the municipality of Torres Shire of Queensland.
