Unplugged ( The Official Bootleg ) is the third live album by Paul McCartney. At the same time, it is including the Wings albums the twenty-first album Paul McCartney after the breakup of the Beatles. It was published on 20 May 1991, the United Kingdom and on 4 June 1991 in the U.S..

Formation

On January 25, 1991 in front of about 200 people Paul McCartney gave a concert in the Limehouse Television Studios in Wembley ( UK). The concert was recorded for the television channel MTV, directed by Bruce Gowers and sent in a series of unplugged concerts. During these concerts acoustic instruments were mainly used by the artists.

The total record length of the performance of Paul McCartney was almost 100 minutes that was cut for television broadcasting, which took place on 3 April 1991 in the U.S. and August 26 in 1991 in the UK, at 48 minutes. Altogether, the following 24 songs were presented in this order:

The television broadcast contained only 14 instead of 17 on the CD containing songs, the title San Francisco Bay Blues, Hi- Heel Sneakers and Is not No Sunshine were not used.

On this album, the drummer Chris Whitten, who joined the band Dire Straits, was replaced by Blair Cunningham.

Sample recordings of the concert that were available on bootlegs, found in the studio of Paul McCartney in Sussex place where more songs were rehearsed, which were not listed: Cut Across Shorty, Froggie Went A- Courtin ', Love Me Tender, Mother Nature's Son, rock Iceland Line and tequila.

After the concert, Paul McCartney decided to publish the appearance as his third live album, which then became the first Unplugged album. Other artists, such as Eric Clapton and Mariah Carey published in the following years further Unplugged albums. The album included the first composition by Paul McCartney I Lost My Little Girl, which was first published legally.

Unplugged ( The Official Bootleg ) has been marketed as a vinyl LP in a limited edition of 250,000 copies. The preparation was carried out in Spain on the Hispavox label. The production of the CD was named after the date of publication, except in Japan, is set.

After the release of the album went to Paul McCartney on May 8 to July 24 on a European tour, which included six concerts. The concerts had an acoustic and an " electric " part and took place in smaller concert halls, the preconceived between 1000-3326 visitors. The songs of the acoustic part varied at the concerts.
