Except Paul McCartney extended no ex-Beatle record deal with EMI after the contract expired with Apple Records on January 26, 1976.

From the year 1979 to 1984 including Paul McCartney was in the U.S. and Canada in the sound recording company Columbia Records. Capitol Records was so in December 1978 still release a compilation album by Paul McCartney that was titled with the name of Wings Greatest.

The song Another Day is the A- side of a Paul McCartney single and Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey comes from the Paul and Linda McCartney album Ram and thus are both titles no Wings songs. Furthermore, the album does not contain the number -one hit in the U.S. Listen to What the Man Said and the U.S. top ten hits: Helen Wheels and Maybe I'm Amazed (live). The Top Ten hit in the UK Mary Had a Little Lamb is also not included on the album.

Wings Greatest contains nine Top Ten hits in the UK, or eleven U.S. Top Ten hits, including five U.S. number-one hits. Mull of Kintyre did not reach the top ten in the U.S., but was up to the release year of the album the only number-one hit song by Paul McCartney in the UK.
