Věchnov

Věchnov ( German Wiechnow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers southeast of Bystřice nad Perštejnem and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Věchnov is located on a ridge between the valleys of Nedvědička, Bystřice and Svratka in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. Věchnov extends along the Věchnovský creek, which rises in the village. South-east rises the Babylon ( 626 m ) in the west of Věchnov (618 m). To the east is the rest of the pit hole Železinka / iron shaft.

Neighboring towns are Bratrušín in the north, Lesoňovice in the northeast, Vrtezir in the east, Ujčov, Liskovec and Kovářová the southeast, Býšovec and Pernštejnské Janovice in the south, Josefov in the southwest, Zlatkov and Rodkov in the west and Novy Dvur and Bystřice nad Perštejnem in the northwest.

History

The foundation of the town was made by German colonists. The first written mention of the castle formerly belonging to Auersperg village Wiechnow took place in 1325, the belonging to her dowry site as earned Jeruše of Auersperg in the Augustinian monastery Doubravník. 1335, the village was called Hadmars and 1343 as Wechnaw. Later the spelling of the name changed frequently. After the destruction of the monastery by the Hussites the place came back to the estates of Pernštejnové and the rule Bystřice was connected. In the 17th century Wiehniow seat of a judge. At the beginning of the 19th century Magnetitlagerstätte east of the village was opened up and drilled mine iron manhole / Železinka. The degradation proved very profitable, because with little effort ore of high quality was obtained, which was rendered in the Stiepanauer iron works.

After the abolition of patrimonial Věchňov / Wiechnow formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Nove Mesto. 1893 was the place the name Wěchnow and since 1915 he is called Věchnov. In 1949 the community was the Okres Bystřice assigned nad Perštejnem. In 1961, the assignment to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. In the 1980s, the pit Železinka, was in the won after setting the iron mining gravel was shut down and then filled largely with household garbage. Between 1981 and 1992 Věchnov was incorporated to Bystřice nad Pernštejnem.
