Vince Clarke

Vince Clarke ( born July 3, 1960 in South Woodford, Essex, England as Vincent John Martin ) is an English pop musicians. He founded the band Depeche Mode, Yazoo, The Assembly and is a member of the duo Erasure and VCMG.

Biography

Clarke grew up in Basildon on in southeast England, and learned to play as a teenager, violin and piano.

In the late 1970s, Clarke came along with his school friend Andrew Fletcher under the band name No Romance in China. In 1979 he founded with Fletcher and Martin Gore, the band French look, they renamed shortly thereafter in Composition of Sound. Vince Clarke took it as a singer of the band.

Clarke since 2004 with the American Tracy Hurley, sister of the Independent filmmaker Tonya Hurley married. The couple live in Maine, USA. 2005 her son Oscar (named after the analog synthesizer OSCar ) was born.

Depeche Mode

1980 came to Dave Gahan Composition of Sound and took over the vocals. Shortly thereafter, the group changed its name to Depeche Mode. Before the debut single Dreaming of Me was released in early 1981, Vince took the stage name Clarke. After the further Singles New Life and Just Can not Get Enough, brought the breakthrough for the band in England, the first album Speak & Spell was released. Clarke wrote most of the songs. But a short time later, in December 1981, he left the band.

Yazoo

After leaving Depeche Mode Clarke did with his high school sweetheart Alison Moyet together as a singer for the duo Yazoo. The two released two albums and achieved a number of hits, including Do not Go and Only You. Yazoo split in 1983, Moyet pursued a solo career. 2009, there was a concert tour to a reunion with all the hits. Was released in 2010 the album Reconnected Live.

The Assembly

After Yazoo had dissolved, Clarke founded with Eric Radcliffe The Assembly (vocals: Feargal Sharkey ). The first and only single Never Never released in 1983 and reached England in the chart 4th place with Paul Quinn, he published in 1985 the song One Day.

Erasure

1985 Clarke was on an ad in Melody Maker magazine, in which he was looking for a singer. Out of thousands of applicants, he opted for Andy Bell, with whom he has since as a duo Erasure occurs. By 2005, the duo came 17 times in the Top Ten of the UK singles chart. Five albums reached the top position. In October 2011, the now fourteenth studio album Tomorrow's World appeared.

VCMG

In 2011 he founded together with his former bandmate Martin Gore of Depeche Mode the minimal techno project VCMG. The first album with the title Ssss appeared in March 2012.
