Voiceless velar fricative
The velar fricative voiceless ( unvoiced, the rear dorsum educated fricative ) has in different languages following phonetic and orthographic realizations:
- German [ x]: ch after a, o, u and au, unless the diminutive suffix - chen follows. Example: laugh [ laxən ]
- Example: jamás [ xamas ]
The ego also called voiceless palatal fricative sound is the German one of the following realizations ( one of the following allophones ) of the phoneme, which is usually / ç / or / x / notes: [ ç ] and [ x] or [ χ ].
- Alemannisch [ x]: ch ( in any position )
- Russian: Х, х
