Special events

For Marseilles Georges Bereta, this was the fourth and last coupe of his career, having already three times with AS Saint -Étienne had been able to win the competition 1968-1974. From the team that was victorious in 1972 for OM, was out of Jules Zvunka - since moved from the field to the bench - no one there.

In Lyon, it would have been his fifth cup final for coach Aimé Mignot, had his club not a few weeks before replacing it with Aimé Jacquet.

Referee Wurtz led his second Cup final after 1973.
