2006 Faroe Islands Premier League

The Faroe Islands Football Cup 2006 was held in the Formuladeildin said first Faroese league and overall was the 64th season. It started on April 2, 2006 and ended on 21 October 2006.

Movers B68 Toftir returned after a year back in the top flight. Master was HB Tórshavn, which could thus win the title for the 19th time. Defending B36 Tórshavn landed on the third place. Descent on the other hand had to B68 Toftir after one year and after three years ÍF Fuglafjørður excellence.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate deteriorated to 3.20 per game, which meant the lowest average since 2003. Highest wins achieved EB / Streymur on 15 Round with a 8:2 at home against B68 Toftir, which simultaneously represented the highest-scoring game KÍ Klaksvík with a 7-1 away win against VB / Sumba on the eleventh Round and B36 Tórshavn with a 6:0 at home against HB Tórshavn.

In the Formuladeildin each team to play 27 days played three times against each other. Cup decision

With two victories reached B36 Tórshavn on the second match for the first time the first place. Relegation battle

On the twelfth Gameday KÍ Klaksvík was defeated 3-1, so that then the eighth place was occupied. However, this only lasted until the 15th game day, since no game could be won. As a result, the team finished ninth.

ÍF Fuglafjørður occupied directly at the beginning of the relegation zone. After victories in the eighth and ninth match day, the first seven games were all lost, could be achieved with the seventh season, the highest placement. Up to 23 Matchday but had to wait for another victory, so that the end of the table was adorned from matchday 15.

From the 10th Round three different teams occupied the last three places. From the 20th to the 22nd matchday of the projection of VB / Sumba was on B68 Toftir five points, a further point behind was ÍF Fuglafjørður. On 25 Round ÍF lost at home 2:3 against B68, which they were now eight and VB / Sumba who lost their own game, were now in last place. On 26 Round this situation was reversed. VB / Sumba won the home game against NSÍ Runavík 2-0, while the other two competitors in their respective games lost. On the final day VB / Sumba made with a 1-1 draw at Skala ÍF that is ÍF Fuglafjørður could not save himself with a victory. The compensation by Jón Krosslá Poulsen scored in the 58th minute after VB / Sumba came already in the 16th minute with a goal by Levi Hanssen behind. Besides ÍF who played 0-2 against HB Tórshavn, also the Movers B68 Toftir lost his last game 0-2 at NSÍ Runavík and thus rose again from the second division. The goals were scored in the 69th minute penalty by Andy Ó. Olsen and in the 86th minute through Christian Høgni Jacobsen. A draw would have been sufficient for a loss of VB / Sumba on goal difference.

National Cup

In the National Cup B36 Tórshavn won 2-1 against KÍ Klaksvík. Master HB Tórshavn difference in the quarter-finals with 2:6 against EB / Streymur.

European Cup

2006/ 07 B36 Tórshavn played as a champion of last year in qualifying for the Champions League. In the first round, B36 was 3-0, which meant the biggest victory of a Faroese team, and 2:2 prevail against FC Birkirkara (Malta ), but different in the second round with 0:4 and 0:5 against Fenerbahce (Turkey) from.

Skala ÍF played in the qualification for the UEFA Cup and was eliminated in the first round by two defeats against IK Start (Norway ) from (0-1 in the home game, 0-3 away ).

GÍ Gøta played as cup winners of the previous year also in the qualification for the UEFA Cup against FK Ventspils (Latvia ) and lost here with 1:2 and 0:2.

HB Tórshavn took part in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In the first leg in the first round against Dinaburg Daugavpils (Latvia ) HB was able to achieve a 1:1, the second leg, however, was lost at home 0-1.
