2008 Faroe Islands Premier League
The Faroe Islands Football Championship 2008 was held in the Formuladeildin said first Faroese league and overall was the 66th season. It started on 29 March 2008 with the play of B36 Tórshavn against ÍF Fuglafjørður and ended on 25 October 2008.
Víkingur Gøta was through the merger of GÍ Gøta with LIF Leirvík the 24 participants in the highest division after the introduction of the League operation in 1947, the newly promoted B68 Toftir and ÍF Fuglafjørður returned after each year in this. National Cup
In the championship of the Cup EB / Streymur won with 3-2 against B36 Tórshavn and thus achieved the double.
European Cup
2008/ 09 NSÍ Runavík played as a champion of last year in qualifying for the Champions League. Away at Dinamo Tbilisi ( Georgia) the game with 0:3 has been lost, the return game could NSÍ win 1-0.
EB / Streymur played as cup winners of the previous year in the qualification for the UEFA Cup and lost both the first leg and the second leg each with 0-2 against Manchester City (England).
B36 Tórshavn also played in the qualification for the UEFA Cup. The first leg at Brøndby IF ( Denmark) B36 lost 0-1, the return in Tórshavn was lost with 0:2.
HB Tórshavn played in the Intertoto Cup. At home, HB lost in the first round against IF Elfsborg (Sweden) with 1:4, the second leg was 0-0.
