2011–12 Azerbaijan Premier League

The Premyer Liqasi 2011/12, officially named after a sponsorship agreement Unibank Premyer Liqasi was the twentieth season of the highest Azerbaijani league for football the men since its founding in 1992.

The first season round began on August 6, 2011 and ended on March 7, 2012 with the staging of the 22nd matchday. Both the games for the championship and the relegation games were introduced with the 23th Round on March 11. The last championship matches were played on 11 May, the final descent games on May 12.

On April 30, the Azerbaijani Football Federation announced that there would not be promoted from the Birinci Divizionu. This leaves all the clubs in the Premyer Liqasi for the upcoming season.

First round

In the first season round the twelve teams played to participate in the games of the championship final. This requires a placement in the first half of the table was required. The clubs that were after 22 match day in the second half of the table, had to compete in the second half of the season in the relegation round against each other.

In addition to the table Neftchi Baku PFK First to qualified clubs FK Inter Baku, FK Xəzər Lənkəran, FK Qarabağ Aghdam, FK Baku and FK Qəbələ for the games over the Azerbaijani championship. The seventh- AZAL PFK Baku failed to qualify for the championship games and had accordingly along with the clubs to the last five table ranks ( FK Ravan Baku PFK Kəpəz, PFK Simurq Zaqatala, Sumqayıt PFK and PFK Turan Tovuz ) in the second half of the season against relegation in the second- highest division, the Birinci Divizionu play.

Second Round

Championship games

Neftchi Baku PFK was able to maintain his lead over second-placed FK Xəzər Lənkəran during the championship games and thus decided the Azerbaijani championship. The championship also means taking part in the qualifying matches for the UEFA Champions League. In addition to the Vice- champions FK Xəzər Lənkəran also the FK Inter Baku and FK Baku Cup winner reached the qualifiers for the UEFA Europa League.
