2011–12 Serie A
The Serie A 2011/12 was the 80th season in the top Italian football league of gentlemen. As masters started defending champions AC Milan in the season, Atalanta, AC Siena and Novara Calcio secured promotion to the top division and replaced the three relegated Sampdoria, Brescia Calcio and AS Bari. It started on 9 September 2011, after the first two games failed because of a player strike.
A total of 20 teams participated in the championship, 17 of which already last season played in Serie A.
