2011–12 Serie B
The 2011/12 season was the 80th season of the Italian Serie B since its first-run in 1929. From the series A were relegated Sampdoria, Brescia Calcio and AS Bari to. From the Lega Pro Prima Divisione rose last year to the clubs ASG Nocerina, AS Gubbio 1910, Hellas Verona and SS Juve Stabia. As a consequence of the manipulation scandal in Italy Ascoli Calcio 2011 received a deduction of six points for the new season. Due to financial problems of FC Crotone and Stabia were covered with a deduction of a counter.
Pescara Calcio won for the second time since 1987 the championship of Serie B and got a master of the second division to Serie A. As the second- placed team FC Turin also results in the direct promotion in the highest league. Sampdoria managed by successful play-offs for immediate promotion back to the Serie A.
ASG Nocerina and AS Gubbio 1910, both promoted from the Lega Pro Prima Divisione, the League receipt failed and went right back into the third-highest league. After nine years of League membership also suffered UC AlbinoLeffe the relegation in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione. After the play -out of the traditional club Vicenza Calcio stable in the third division, as a further relegated. In the wake of the Italian manipulation scandal Erstligaabsteiger U.S. Lecce as well as the U.S. Grosseto were condemned to relegation to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione, whereupon Vicenza and Nocerina remain in the second division.
Ciro Immobile by second division champions Pescara Calcio was achieved with 28 -goal top scorer this season.

This was Sampdoria fixed as the third climber and followed Pescara Calcio and Torino in the Serie A. The Rise succeeded after only one year's absence from the first Italian football league.
