2009–10 Serie B

The season 2009/10 Italian Serie B began on 21 August 2009 and ended on May 30, 2010. The AC Torino, Reggina Calcio and U.S. Lecce came from Serie A to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione from increased AC Cesena, Gallipoli Calcio Padova Calcio and FC Crotone on. The U.S. Lecce succeeded after a year in the second division of the direct promotion back to Serie A, while the second-placed AC Cesena rise after 20 years with two climbs in a row back in the highest league. The AC Mantova, Gallipoli Calcio and Salernitana Calcio could not back up the league and were relegated. Scorer of the Brazil Éder, who scored season 27 goals for FC Empoli.

This Brescia Calcio is fixed as the third promoted team in the Serie A. Previously, already the U.S. Lecce and AC Cesena had qualified for the Erstligasaison 2010/11.

Play-out against relegation

This leaves Padova Calcio in Serie B, while U.S. Triestina should have been relegated to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione. After the final exclusion of AC Ancona 4 August 2010 Triestina took by FIGC decision to have a free place in Serie B 2010/11.
