2012 League of Ireland

The League of Ireland 2012 ( officially: Airtricity League after the league sponsor Airtricity ) was the 92nd season of the highest Irish Football League. The season began on 2 March 2012 and ended on 26 October 2012 with the 33rd and final day.

Defending champion and record champions Shamrock Rovers finished only fourth. Master was Sligo Rovers and overtook the third title of her club's history.

Clubs

Due to the League increased from ten to twelve teams, the top two teams in the First Division in 2011 ( second highest division) rose directly. These were Cork City and Shelbourne FC. Furthermore, defeated third-placed of the First Division, Monaghan United, the lowest ranked of the League of Ireland 2011, Galway United, in the ascent Playoff 2-0 and 3-1, and therefore also rose on.
