2013 AFC Cup

The 2013 AFC Cup was the tenth edition of the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC) discharged AFC Cup. During a restructuring and upgrading of the AFC Champions League for new criteria and the AFC Cup was awarded in 2009 a different face than in previous years. The tournament will take place between November 2, 2013 February 9.

Qualification

Eligible countries

The AFC laid the eligible association members established in November 2012.

Compared to the AFC Cup 2012, the members were able to apply the following changes:

  • An association, which played in the AFC Cup was allowed to apply for the AFC Champions League 2013. Associations, which only partially fulfilled the Champions League criteria may partecipate at both the AFC Cup and the Champions League.
  • An association which participated in the President's Cup was allowed to apply for the AFC Cup.

Each association must send two teams.

  • The Master is set directly for the group stage.
  • The cup winner or second place in the league will start in the group stage or the qualification depends on the classification of the AFC.

Compared to last year there were the following changes in the field of participants

  • The losers of the playoffs no longer automatically switch to the AFC Cup.
  • Tajikistan joined the President's Cup in the AFC Cup.
  • India, Jordan, Singapore and Vietnam competed for the AFC Champions League but failed to meet the criteria.

Qualified teams

The following teams have qualified.

  • For teams who have qualified through several competitions, only the higher title is specified.

Mode

Group stage

In the group stage, 32 teams played in eight groups of four teams in the league mode (outward and return ) to the three- point rule. The teams were divided along geographical lines: In groups A to E teams played from Western and Central Asia, in the groups F to H were to teams from East and Southeast Asia. The two group winners qualified for the Final Round of 16

Final round

The second round was a draw and decided in a single game. From the quarter- final was played in the knockout system with return match of the tournament winner, the away goals rule applied. Qualifying round

The draw for the qualifying matches took place on December 6, 2012. Each match was played in a game with any possible extra time and penalties. The winners qualified for the group stage, the losers dropped out.

Group stage
