Altenmarkt bei Furstenfeld is a municipality with 1138 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district Fürstenfeld or political district Hartberg - Fürstenfeld in Styria.

Geography
Altenmarkt bei Fürstenfeld is in Feistritztal near the former district capital Fürstenfeld in Styria.
Community structure
The municipality comprises the three villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):
- Altenmarkt bei Furstenfeld ( 690 )
- Speltenbach (146 )
- Bergen (317 )
Katastralgemeinden are (area 2001): Altenmarkt bei Furstenfeld ( 1239.35 ha), Speltenbach ( 310.47 ha), Bergen ( 448.20 ha).
The community Altenmarkt is fused according to the new community structural reform with the community Fürstenfeld.
History
The parish of Altenmarkt built about the middle of the 12th century at the latest. In 1233 it was (Old Market ) mentioned as " antiquum forum" for the first time. Since that time, the Order of St. John had extensive possessions in this parish. The village church, dedicated to St. Donatus was once an important pilgrimage.
Policy
Mayor of the municipality is Christian summer Bauer of the ÖVP.
Coat of arms
The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 July 1981.
Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " In Silver Red divided shield above a border rotbewehrter and horned black panther who encounters red flames from the mouth; below a silver cross of St. John. "
