Avio (Trentino)

Avio (obsolete German Aue ) is a municipality with 4094 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the south of the autonomous province of Trento (Trentino ).

Geography

Avio is located about 40 km south of Trent, on the border with the province of Verona. Its districts ( Frazioni ) are: Borghetto, Mom d' Avio, Masi d' Avio, Sabbionara, Vò Destro and Vò Sinistro. The old, crossed by narrow streets, city on the Adige rises above the ruins of the Castello di Avio ( Castello di Sabbionara ) from the 11th century, which was greatly expanded in the 13th century.

Economy and Transport

Of economic importance is especially the viticulture in place. Avio is just off the A22, on the Brenner motorway.
