Belmont-lès-Darney

Belmont- lès -Darney is a commune in the Vosges department of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, for Canton Darney and founded the 1992 Local Government Association Pays de Saône et Madon.

Geography

The 120 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) scoring municipality Belmont- lès -Darney is located three kilometers west of Darney, 17 kilometers south of Vittel and 42 kilometers south west of Epinal.

The municipal area includes a portion of the hill country Monts Faucilles. By the Ruisseau de community Lichecourt flows (below Belmonts Ruisseau de Belmont called ), which opens into Attigny in the upper Saône. About 10 % of the four -square-mile community area is forested ( Bois le Comte in the northeast ).

Neighboring communities of Belmont -lès -Darney are Relanges in the north, Darney in the east, the south and Attigny Nonville in the West.

History

The town first appeared in 1321 on a certificate as Beaumont. In the 14th century Belmont was part of the rule Monthureux who sold the village to the Lords Bulgnéville later.

From 1751 until the French Revolution Belmont belonged to the Bailiwick of Darney. The inhabitants were the parish in the parish Nonville, which belonged to the priory Relanges. Until the construction of the church there was a small chapel in Belmont.
