Bratčice (Brno-Country District)

Bratčice ( German Bratschitz, formerly Bratschütz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west of Rajhrad and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Bratčice is located at the confluence of Lejtna ( Leittenbach ) in the Satava on the edge of the Thaya Schwarza valley floor. East of the village leads the expressway R 52 / E 461 over the next exit 17 is located at Ledce.

Neighboring towns are Tikovice, Ořechov and Hajany in the north, Syrovice in the northeast, Sobotovice in the east, Na Podhrázkém, Ledce and Hrušovany u Brna in the southeast, Medlov in the south, Němčičky and Pravlov the southwest, Dolni Kounice in the west and Mělčany and Silůvky in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds indicate a prehistoric settlement on the territory of the municipality. Thus, in the digestion of the gravel pit a 30,000- year-old camp was found with remains of mammoth and reindeer bones. In the village of bones and skulls that have an age of 5000 years, and Slavic pottery remains have been found dating from the 7th century.

The present village was probably already in the 12th century and belonged to the monastery Rosa Coeli. The first written mention of Bratčice took place in 1537 in the monastery chronicle in a report on the sale of several villages of the extinct monastery by Ferdinand I to the Bohemian Vice Chancellor Jiří Žabka of Limberg. Subsequently, various Moravian noble families took turns as the owner of the village. This included the corporals Svatoš Jeník, who was raised by Rudolf II in the Vladikenstand and assumed the title of Jeník Bratřice. Later Bratčice was reconnected to the rule Kounice. Over time, the place was called Bratřice, Bračice, Braczicz and Bratschütz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bračice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Auspitz. Since 1923, the place is called Bratčice. Between 1948 and 1960 the village belonged to Okres Židlochovice. After its cancellation Bratčice was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov. 1980 Bratčice was incorporated along with Sobotovice and Ledce after Syrovice. Since 1990, the community is Bratčice again and since 2000, she leads a coat of arms and banners.

South of the village there is a large tertiary sand deposit and a marl and clay deposits. At times, worked in Bratčice four brickyards. North of the village diorite was broken. Today still sand is mined.
