Buntharik District

Amphoe Buntharik ( Thai: อำเภอ บุณฑริก ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Buntharik borders the following counties (from west clockwise): Amphoe Na to the Chaluai, Det Udom, Phibun Mangsahan and Sirindhorn in Ubon Ratchathani province, and to the Champasak province of Laos.

The most important water resource of the county is the River Dom Noi.

History

Buntharik in 1923 initially as a small district ( King Amphoe ), whose center was in Ban Phon Ngam on the eastern shore of the Dom Noi. Later, the district Phon Ngam was called. 1939 the name was changed back in Buntharik. On July 22, 1958 Buntharik was promoted to Amphoe.

Administrative units

Amphoe Buntharik is ( tambon) divided into eight municipalities, which in turn in 108 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Buntharik ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บุณฑริก ), consisting of parts of the tambon Phon Ngam Bua Ngam and,
  • Kho Laen ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คอแลน ), consisting of the whole tambon Kho Laen.

There are next seven Tambon Administration Organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
