Sirindhorn District

Amphoe Sirindhorn ( Thai: อำเภอ สิริ น ธร ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northwestern province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

The name Sirindhorn was given to the county in honor of Princess Sirindhorn on her 36th birthday.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Amphoe the Buntharik, Phibun Mangsahan Khong Chiam and the province of Ubon Ratchathani. In the East, on the other bank of the Mekong River is the Lao province of Champasak.

The Sirindhorn Dam is located in the county. He jams on the Maenam Noi Cathedral.

There is an official border crossing to Laos:

  • Chong Mek on the Thailand Route 217 and continue on the National Road 16 to the Laotian town of Pakse ( Pakse ).

History

The county Sirindhorn was established on January 3, 1992 by Tambon Kham Amphoe Khong Chiam from Khuean Kaeo and the five Tambon Rai Khan, Chong Mek, Nikhom Sang Lam Dom Noi sound tight, non Ko and Fang Kham were separated from Amphoe Phibun Mangsahan.

Administrative units

Amphoe Sirindhorn is ( tambon) divided into six municipalities, which in turn in 73 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Chong Mek ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ช่อง เม็ก ) consists of parts of the tambon Chong Mek.
  • Nikhom Sang Lam Dom Noi sound tight ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นิคมสร้างตนเอง ลำ โดม น้อย ) consists of the whole tambon Nikhom Sang Lam Dom Noi sound tight.

There are also five administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
