Tan Sum District

Amphoe Tan Sum ( Thai: อำเภอ ตาล สุม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of the province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Neighboring districts are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Si Mueang the May Phibun Mangsahan, Sawang Wirawong, Don Mot Daeng and Trakan Phuet Phon Ubon Ratchathani province.

Important water resources of the district are the rivers Mun and Se Bok.

Etymology

The area of ​​today was formerly called Tan Tan Sum Chum ( ตาล ชุม ), which is about " Fertile land with lots of Palmyra palm trees " ( Borassus flabellifer ) means. Later the name was changed to Tan Sum.

History

The county Tan Sum was posted on September 18, 1978 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the three tambon Tan Sum, Samrong and Chik Thoeng were separated from Amphoe Phibun Mangsahan. 1 January 1988, Tan Sum got the full Amphoe status.

Administrative units

Amphoe Tan Sum is ( tambon) divided into six municipalities, which in turn in 59 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

Tan Sum itself has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon), it consists of parts of the tambon Tan Sum.

There are also six administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
