Don Mot Daeng District

Amphoe Don Mot Daeng ( Thai: อำเภอ ดอน มดแดง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast of Thailand, the Isaan.

The name Don Mot Daeng ( " Dry land of the Red Ants " ) comes from the homonymous island in Maenam Mun.

Geography

Neighboring districts are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe the Tan Sum, Sawang Wirawong, Mueang Ubon Ratchathani, Lao Suea Kok and Trakan Phuet Phon Ubon Ratchathani province.

The main water resources of the district are the rivers Mun and Se Bok.

History

The county was on 1 April 1991 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the region was separated from Amphoe Mueang Ubon Ratchathani. On December 5, 1996 Don Mot Daeng got the full Amphoe status.

Administrative units

Amphoe Don Mot Daeng is in four communities ( tambon) subdivided in turn into 46 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also four administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).
