Chailly-lès-Ennery

Chailly- lès- Ennery is a commune of 337 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Metz- Campagne and Canton Vigy.

Geography

Chailly- lès- Ennery is located about twelve kilometers north of Metz near Ennery at an altitude 169-244 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.29 km ².

Place name

The French village was mentioned in German sources in 1544 as a chain Nchen and 1698 as Ketenchen. 1915-18 was chain Nchen also the official German name. 1940-44 used the German civil administration then the invented name Kettingen.

There you will find the remains of a Templar castle which was burnt down in 1386 by troops of the Duke of Jülich.
