Chip Cravaack

John Raymond "Chip" Cravaack ( born January 29, 1959 in Charleston, West Virginia) is an American politician of the Republican Party. From 2011 to 2013 he represented in the U.S. House of Representatives the eighth election district of the state of Minnesota.

In the 2012 election, he defeated his competitors DFL, Rick Nolan.

Life

Chip Cravaack comes from a military dominated family: his father German - Austrian origin, was a soldier in the Korean War, his grandfather moved into the First World War. Cravaack grew up in Cincinnati and attended the school. In 1981, he earned a bachelor's degree at the United States Naval Academy; In 1989 the Master of Education at the University of West Florida. He then worked as a military pilot and a pilot for Northwest Airlines.

In the elections for the House of Representatives of the United States in 2010 Cravaack won as a Republican candidate in the eighth district of Minnesota with 47 percent of the vote and 4,400 -vote lead just against the Democratic incumbent Jim Oberstar, who came to 46 percent. Cravaack was thus the first Republican representative for the 8th district of Minnesota since 1947.
