Dockville

MS Dockville is a music and arts festival in Hamburg's William Castle on Reiherstieg. It was first held in 2007. Large parts of the festival grounds are located behind the Reiherstieg main dike, so on an unprotected from flood area.

The special feature of MS Dockville is the combination of music and visual art. 2007

In 2007, the MS Dockville was the first time as two-day music and arts festival with about 5,000 visitors. Musical headliners were the German pop duo 2raumwohnung and the band Tocotronic. The artistic director has held Daniel Richter.

2008

In 2008 the festival was extended to three days: there were of Friday, August 15, 2008 to Sunday, August 17, 2008 instead. Daniel Richter held the patronage of the artistic projects this year.

2009

In 2009, the festival took place on the same site as in previous years from 14 to 16 August. Again, it was a combination of music on one side and works Fine Artists on the other side. 2011

The MS Dockville Festival 2011 took place from 12 to 14 August. Subareas of the site could not be used for the festival due to construction work. Also used in the previous buildings were demolished. The MS Dockville structured the festival area new, used larger tents for the night program and other surfaces for the platforms. The campground was expanded and could accommodate more than 8,000 campers. Overall, the festival visited daily by almost 20,000 visitors.

Because of bad weather and heavy rain in the days before the festival, the organizers and guests had significant problems with the terrain. Visitors criticized, among others, unpaved roads, inadequate toilet facilities, and a long wait at the inlet area. The big tent stage " engine room" has been banned due to security concerns by the organizers on Friday. The bands were laid for the most part on free play times for other platforms. However, visitors criticized the lack of information regarding transfers and cancellations. On Saturday, the operation of the stage took place again, but the tent had been through a restricted area, a decrease in visitor capacity. The organizer apologized after the festival in a press release for the resulting deficiencies.

At the festival occurred about 150 bands and DJs, including Santigold, Editors, Crystal Castles, ... 2012

The MS Dockville Festival 2012 took place from 10th to 12th August. It appeared, inter alia, Hot Chip, James Blake, Maxïmo Park, Tocotronic, Metronomy, Frittenbude, Prinz Pi, The Maccabees, WhoMadeWho, Le Fly, Dillon, Wye Oak, Dear Reader, Future Islands and retro Stefson on.

2013

The MS Dockville Festival 2013 took place from 16 to 18 August. 2013 were, inter alia, Foals, Mac Miller, The Lumineers, Woodkid, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Crystal Fighters, A- Trak, Baauer, Agnes Obel, DJ Koze, fickleness, all colors and The Orson on.

For the cooperation with the Roskilde Festival was of 27 artists and assets a " process-oriented, traveling sculpture" created. From MS Dockville Art Camp was opened by Jeremy Wade and Miguel Gutierrez from 30 June with an anti- worship of the construction of the " Church of Beers ", a memorial for there established new faith of empty beer cans.
