Edward Beard

Edward Peter Beard (born 20 January 1940 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is an American politician. Between 1975 and 1981 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Rhode Iceland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Beard attended the Assumption Elementary School and Hope High School in Providence. Between 1960 and 1966 he was a member of the National Guard of Rhode Iceland. There he took advantage of the training opportunities and studied the subject agriculture. After this time, but he was a painter.

Politically Beard joined the Democratic Party. Between 1972 and 1974 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Rhode Iceland. In 1976 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in New York, on the Jimmy Carter was nominated as presidential candidate of the party. In the congressional elections of 1974, Beard was in the second district of Rhode Iceland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Robert Tiernan on January 3, 1975. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1981 was three legislative periods.

In the elections of 1980 he was defeated Claudine Schneider of the Republican Party. After retiring from Congress Beard operated a restaurant. Between 1986 and 2002 he served as city manager in Providence. There he was responsible for senior citizens affairs. In 1990 he applied unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for the congressional elections. Today Edward Beard lives in his hometown of Providence.
