Emblem of Djibouti

The coat of arms of Djibouti was introduced after the attainment of independence on 25 June 1977.

Description

The coat of arms is on the sides bounded by laurel branches.

Within this limit, there is an upright spear in front of which a plate is located and its tip pointing to the red star.

Below the shield protrude two hands from the spear, both of which hold a large diameter vertical.

Symbolism

Spear and shield are the traditional weapons for the defense of the homeland for which standing by the two tribes of the Afars and Issas the. This is expressed by the two knife -supporting arms.

The asterisk stands for independence and unity. It is taken from the flag of Djibouti and stands for the state.

The two laurel branches symbolize the unity and victory.
