Fiat Marea sedan (1996-2001)

The Fiat Marea (type 185 ) is a work based on the compact model Bravo vehicle, the lower middle class of the Fiat brand.

Model history

The Fiat Marea was built from mid- 1996 until the end of 2002 as a sedan and station wagon ( "Weekend" ). There were engines 75-154 hp. On diesel engines were offered: two 1.9 - liter four- cylinder engines with 75 and 100 hp, and the first time a 2.4 -liter 5-cylinder engine with 124 hp ( the two strongest controlled with electronic indirect injection ). From model year 1999 stood next to the 1.9 -liter 75 -horsepower engine (up to 2000), a new 1.9 -liter common-rail engine ( JTD ) with 105 hp and a 2.4 -liter JTD with 130 hp are available. The 2.4 -liter JTD was until the end of 2000 in the program, the 1.9 -liter JTD was increased to 110 hp from the end of 2000.

In the five- cylinder engine, it also gave a petrol in a 2.0 - liter variant, particularly like the sonorous sound of the engagement in series ignitions.

The Fiat Marea was offered in three trim levels: SX, ELX and HLX, but the scope of the equipment in detail for each country varies.

In late summer 1999, the Marea was slightly revised, especially in the equipment variants and the Interior ( improved plastics and coatings ).

Another facelift occurred in the fall of 2001 with the introduction of the new brand logos. Here also the tail lights of the weekend have been revised.

To date, the fold-down bumper is below the tailgate of a Weekend still quite rare feature. A detail that was taken from the previous Fiat Tempra Weekend.

The Marea sedan was taken in early 2002 in Europe out of production, the weekend was at the end of the last time the band.

In Brazil, it was produced until 2007 in the same design as in Europe, but with the tail lights of the Lancia Lybra.

Fiat Marea ordered the one in the middle class, the vehicle is up to the B-pillar visible to the Fiat Bravo and Brava ( compact class ) similar. The Fiat Marea Weekend was replaced in early 2003 by the Fiat Stilo Multi Wagon. The presented in summer 2007 Fiat Linea is the indirect successor of the Marea sedan because it uses the platform based in the small car class Fiat Grande Punto.

Brazil & under license

The Marea was until February 2008 ( 20V Turbo for B.The 2.0) produced in a slightly face-lifted version with more powerful engines in Brazil. In addition, the Turkish brand Tofaş built the vehicle to the end of 2007 license, including as a higher-quality VIP version with leather interior and sound system.

Special bodies

In some markets, the Marea Weekend with diesel engine and without was sold as Fiat Marengo. For the taxi traffic of the island of Capri Fiat built traditional special versions of its models as a convertible.
