Figure skating at the 1988 Winter Olympics

In the XV. Four competitions 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary were held in figure skating. Venue was the Olympic Saddledome and Stampede Corral.

Outstanding was Katarina Witt's expressive Goldkür to the music of Georges Bizet's "Carmen". Caused a stir even the duel between the American Brian Boitano and Canadian Brian Orser, which could Boitano surprisingly clear decide for themselves.

Witts American challenger Debi Thomas was the freestyle to the same music as Katharina Witt: "Carmen" by Georges Bizet. However, the American slipped up at the beginning of their freestyle, so that the Canadian Elizabeth Manley could slide between the two favorites.
