Fræna

Fræna is a commune in the Norwegian province (county ) Møre og Romsdal. It was established in its present form in 1960 from the merger of the former municipalities Bud, Fræna and Hustad.

Geography

Neighboring municipalities of Fræna are (clockwise) Eide, Gjemnes, Molde and Aukra.

In addition to the main town Elnesvågen to Fræna includes the villages of Bud, Tornes, Malme, Bergseth, Sylte and Nerland, as well as several villages under 200 inhabitants.

Economy and Transport

Fræna is an important agricultural region. Moreover, there is in Elnesvågen a factory for calcium products for papermaking and Norway's largest factory for Jarlsbergkäse.

The National Highway 64 connects Fræna with Molde.

  • Trollkyrkja, a limestone cave with a waterfall. It is located east of Elnesvågen.
