Gauthier de Tessières

Gauthier de Tessières ( born November 9, 1981 in Clermont- Ferrand ) is a French former alpine skier. He was a member from 1999 to 2013 the French national team. At the World Championships he won one each gold and silver medal.

Biography

De Tessières denied at the age of five years in L' Alpe d' Huez his first race. His place of residence outside the mountain regions forced him to attend the École de Ski Français. After some good finishes in FIS races he entered at age 18 in the B-team of the French national ski team.

He scored his first international success in February 2001, finishing third in the Super -G at the Junior World Championships in Verbier, Switzerland. Finally, he denied in December 2001 in Val d'Isere his first World Cup race. For several years, remained a 15th place, he had achieved in December 2004 in the giant slalom in Flachau, his best finish. This he could 13 December 2008 to significantly improve, finishing third of the giant slalom was in Val d'Isere. In his Olympic debut in Torino in 2006 Tessières drove in the Super- G on the 39th Place and in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished 31st place in this discipline. In the giant slalom, he came both times not finishing. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen was Tessières team world champion with the French team, without having it denied a run themselves.

In the World Cup season 2011/12 de Tessières did not come as a 14th place out. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he scored two top ten finishes. With these services, he would not have qualified for the World Cup 2013 in Schladming. However, when Johan Clarey failed injured a few days before the World Cup, de Tessières moved according to the French team and won the Super-G surprising the Silver Medal. His best World Cup classification in this discipline had previously been an eighth place.

Due to insufficient results de Tessières was not considered for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. He then announced on January 31, 2014 his immediate resignation from the top sports .. known
