De Rijp acts like an open air museum: about 300 houses with wooden gables from the 17th and 18th century still standing in North Holland style to the small canals and roads. The town hall (1630 ), with Waag and the church in the center are worth seeing. In the surrounding area is well worth a bicycle or car tour of the polder landscape with the old, monumental farms.
