Koggenland
Koggenland ( West Frisian Koggenland ) is a municipality in the west Friesland region in the Dutch province of North Holland.
The municipality was created on 1 January 2007 by the merger of the municipalities Obdam and Wester- Koggenland. In 2006 it was decided to give the new community its current name. The community name recalls the historical cog from the Middle Ages. Such a cog (or Cogge ) consisted usually of four to five villages and was a legal district. Because the existing community Noorder - Koggenland had on the same day to give up their independence, the name Koggenland for the present new church could be established.
