Haroué

Haroué is a commune with 411 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It is the capital of the canton of the same name.

The community Haroué lies about 25 kilometers south of Nancy on the banks of Madon in the landscape Saintois.

The Haroué castle was built from 1720 to 1732 by Germain Boffrand for Prince Marc de Beauvau - Craon. The present castle stands on the site of the ruined medieval building, which had last heard the Marshal, diplomat and playboy François de Bassompierre before it was destroyed in the turmoil of the wars of Louis XIV. At the interior of the palace and the gardens well-known artists were involved, including Jean Lamour and Barthelemy Guibal. The castle is classified as a monument historique.
