Hostěnice

Hostěnice ( German Hostienitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers north-east of the center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Hostěnice located at the southern foot of the Drahany country. Surrounded by woods village extends on the right side of the creek Hostěnický creek. To the north- west lies the Landscape Protection Area Moravian Karst, in the north of the Nature Park Ricky. To the southeast, the Velka rises Baba (420 m), north west the Lysa hora (428 m). To the south are extensive limestone quarries.

Neighboring towns are Hádek, Pod Hádkem and Lhotky in the north, Ricky and Račice in the northeast, Olšany and Habrovany in the east, Vítovice, Viničné Šumice and Pozořice the southeast, Sivice, Velatice and Mokrá in the south, Horni Mlýn and Prostřední Mlýn in the west and Obce and Ochoz u Brna in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of belonging to the reign of wild mountain village took place in 1371 in the wake of the sale of the rule by Půta of wild mountain of Margrave Johann Heinrich. Hostěnice, as well as the northerly Lhota, were among the villages of the rule, which went out in the 15th or 16th century. While Lhota remained desolate, the valley of the creek Hostěnický was in 1580 and re-colonized by a family of ten. Over time, the clearing of forest land for the production of arable land was.
