History

First documented Hottingen is mentioned in the year 946 as Hott Inga. End of the Middle Ages the settlement consisted of about two dozen homes. Later formed to today's Kreuzplatz to today's Hottingerplatz two population centers. The slopes of the Adlisbergs were almost fully utilized by vines. When Kreuzplatz is the building of the First Church of Christ Scientists ( church built in 1937-1938 by architects Hans Hofmann and Adolf Kellermüller ).

Between Klusplatz and Fluntern on the mountain road to Zurich Hare Krishna temple is located.

Education and Culture

In Hottingen six public schools are located. The neighborhood is part of the urban school district of Zurich mountain, in the neighborhood itself are the primary schools " Bungertwies " - organized as a day school - and Ilgen. The Bungertwies includes its own school swimming facility, housed in the school, the kindergarten level, the lower level (1st - 3rd class) and Intermediate (4th - 6th grade). The reading circle Hottingen was founded on November 4, 1882 by Hottinger Turnverein colleagues Wilfired Treichler and Hans Bodmer at the inn for Sonnegg. Attractions

The Schauspielhaus on Heimplatz ( peacock ) is the main theater of the city.

The 1902 to 1905, Protestant Cross Church with its imposing dome is an interesting combination of architectural styles from classicism to art nouveau. Traffic
