Jaroslav Bednář

Jaroslav Bednar ( born November 9, 1976 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is since May 2013 when HC Slavia Prague in the Czech Extraliga under contract.

Career

Jaroslav Bednar began his career in his hometown at HC Slavia Prague and graduated in the 1994/95 season his first games in the Czech Extraliga. The following season, he went in eight games for the second division HC Kralupy nad Vltavou on the ice, but returned to Slavia. From the season 1996/97 he was determined to Extraliga squad Slavia Prague and reached in this first full season 30 points scorer. After 14 games the following season he moved to HC Slavia Lasselsberger Plzeň before a contract with HC Sparta Prague signed in 1998. A year later, he was then taken by JYP Jyvaskyla of the Finnish SM- liiga under contract and performed brilliantly with 34 goals and 28 assists in 53 games this season. In November 1999 he was also elected as the SM- liiga Player of the Month. Due to the benefits shown he received a contract offer from Premier League rivals Helsingfors IFK Helsinki, where he was promoted in the 2000 /01 season to guide players and won the top scorer of the SM - liiga.

The outstanding performances in the Finnish League prompted the Los Angeles Kings, until then ungedrafteten Bednar during the NHL Entry Draft 2001 select ( second round, 51st place). First Bednar played for the farm team of the Kings, the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League. Later he was appointed to the NHL squad and came in two seasons on 37 missions in which he contributed four goals and eleven templates. In November 2002, Bednar was delivered together with Andreas Lilja to the Florida Panthers, who sent in return Dmitri Yushkevich to LA. For Florida, he completed 65 NHL games in which he scored six goals and 14 assists, before he moved to the Russian Super League for Avangard Omsk HK mid-season 2003/ 04. At the end of the season he won the Russian championship with Omsk. In the following season he remained in Omsk and played due to the lockout in the NHL along with Jaromir Jagr, Alexander and Oleg Pereschogin Twerdowski. In summer 2005, he moved back to his hometown club Slavia Prague, where he played until 2009. In the 2007 /08 season he reached with Slavia Czech championship in which in the playoffs he played a big part with ten goals.

In summer 2009, Bednar joined Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Continental Hockey League. A year later he was taken from the KHL rookie HC Lev Poprad under contract. As this did not take up the game mode, Bednar was initially without a club. In August, he first completed a few test games for HC Davos before he signed a contract for four months duration. In February 2011, Bednar has signed a contract for two years at HC Lugano, who was from the 2011/12 season. In November 2012, this contract was terminated and Bednar returned to Slavia Prague. In January 2013, he was again committed by a Swiss club, as the SC Bern took him until end of season under contract. Subsequently, he received a new contract with Slavia Prague.

Internationally

His international debut for the Czech national team Jaroslav Bednar graduated in 1996 with a preseason game against the Swedish national ice hockey team. In the following years he was repeatedly used in the Euro Hockey Tour tournaments and friendly matches in the national team but never made ​​it into a squad for international title fights. Only in 2006, he was appointed to the World Cup squad of Czechs and won with the selection of the silver medal.
