Jeff Toms

Jeff Toms ( born June 4, 1974 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played in the National League A for the EHC Basel, HC Ambri -Piotta, the SCL Tigers and the Genève -Servette HC. He played on the position of the striker, his career has ended Toms 2011.

Tom was drafted in 1992 in round nine at position 210 of the New Jersey Devils. He has played in the NHL for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers.

Career

Jeff Toms played as a junior for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League. He was active from 1991 to 1994 for the team with which Toms 1992, the OHL championship, the J. Ross Robertson Cup, and won the 1993 Memorial Cup. During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 by the New Jersey Devils in the ninth round at position 210, but before his debut in the National Hockey League, he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the season 1995/96 he had his first NHL insert for the Lightning, the rest of the season he played with the Atlanta Knights of the International Hockey League. A season later, he came up with 34 NHL games for the Tampa Bay Lightning, where Jeff Toms had two goals, eight assists and ten penalty minutes included in its statistics. In the autumn of 1997 he undertook the Washington Capitals from the waiver. There Toms came regularly used his breakthrough as a regular player but he did not succeed.

For the 2000/01 season he became a free agent to the New York Islanders. More NHL stations for Toms to 2003 were the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers. When he did not get a new NHL contract more, Tom joined the 2003/04 season to Russia Severstal Cherepovets to. The same season he finished the EHC Basel in the National League A, which he descended to the end of the season in the National League B. He played the next six years, also in Switzerland, three seasons at HC Ambri -Piotta and SCL Tigers. This was followed from 2009 to 2011 for two seasons at the Genève -Servette HC under coach Chris McSorley before Jeff Toms ended his career.
